How to Control Indian Meal Moths (Pantry Moths) in Halifax, NS
Indian Meal Moth or Pantry Moth Description: small, mostly brown. Larvae, or caterpillars, grow to be
about 1 cm or 1/2 inch long, cream coloured and sometimes pinkish or
greenish.
- Find the source of the infestation. Look for stored products
such as: cereal, flour, cornmeal, rice, grains, crackers, cake
mixes, pasta, dog food, rodent bait, dried flowers, dried fruit,
powdered milk, spices, and nuts. When you find the infested product,
discard it, and clean the area.
- Use Moth Pheromone traps for monitoring.
