Many times, people want to try and do their own pest control; even when it comes to wildlife. There are a number of reasons why it is important to call in a professional, and the number one reason is safety. Safety for the homeowner, and for the wild animals.
It is also important to keep wild animals wild, and not to feed them or give them a reason to come into contact with you. Always secure garbage and remove clutter.
St. Gertrude of Nivelles
Often depicted with rats or mice near her feet, on her cloak or running
up her staff, St. Gertrude is often called upon to intercede for people with pest
issues such as rodents.
Born in the seventh century, she died on March 17th, 659, and Pope Clement XII canonized her (recognized her as a saint) in 1677. A mere 18 years after she passed.
Her feast day is March 17. St. Patrick, who also shares the same feast day, is invoked against snakes.
So, if you have pest control issues, and faith, pray to St. Gertrude of Nivelles and/or St. Patrick, and ask them to intercede (petition/pray to God) on your behalf. St.Gertrude and St. Patrick, pray for us!
